isla s @RT89656869 09/01/2022 I loved this film - the plot (the philosophical angles), the CGI effects, the cast and characters etc. Its quite imaginative - not entirely a religious film, it pokes fun at Christianity I suppose - its definitely what I regard as a sort of surreal comedy with fantasy elements. I thought the young girl who plays Gods daughter was particularly good - she looks so innocent and naive and yet is quite the schemer and I enjoyed seeing how her father reacted to the things she did. There is, perhaps surprisingly, a sense of poignancy at times - it does at least touch on some serious themes, mainly mortality but I wouldn't say it entirely laughs off serious issues. Its a hard film to review without giving away spoilers but I felt it handled the themes well and it did make me laugh on a number of ocassions but not in a cheap way, if that makes sense. Also, one plot element made me think of the film Being John Malkovich - it is perhaps similar in terms of zany, wacky quirkiness. I also quite liked the classical music played at times, although I suppose some may think it makes it seem a bit pretentious. Personally, I thoroughly recommend this film.
