Laura M @RT19748519 May 11 Move over Indiana Jones- this film is so well written, with just as much adventure, but a fascinating picture of medicine and religion and history- to the extent to that you are fully immersed in the story. Addresses so many wrongs people have done to one another for racial and religious differences, without being preachy. It was fascinating- just pins and needles 2/3 of the time. Ben Kingsley is magnificent, and the innocence and wonder that we experience through the character of Rob Cole makes us cheer for every life saved and saddened for those lost. Every single line means something later in the story. All of the relationships are real- you believe every exchange. An interesting insight into the loneliness of the Shah and his everyday life as the unfeeling sociopath that he was raised to be. You feel for the man. The writer of this film has tremendous empathy in the characters that are depicted, and we are taken along for the emotional ride. A meaningful and riveting film. I beg you to read the actual history which does not demonize the Muslim world and their leaders… adding to the western white man savior attitude as well as oddly representing Islamic leaders having something against dissection. The Muslims world in its golden ages advanced medicine. I wouldn’t have a problem if this movie was so much like other movies representing Muslims who are religious as barbaric. This is the kind of film that reinforces stereotypes and harms the Muslim community. Enjoy the film, but please be aware it is not enlightening or accurate. Educate yourself of the truth.
