When neighbors Violette (Laurence Leboeuf) and Florence (Karine Gonthier-Hyndman) bond over the ennui of parenthood, they realize that the solution to reviving their joie de vivre may be in listening to their libidos. There's something rather joyless and dated about this picture. It's a sex comedy viewed through a feminist lens that still manages to show its female characters as neurotic, brittle and unstable. Go to Full Review

The film, despite themes of empowerment, is really a strange cinematic palimpsest. Scratch the glossy feminist makeover to reveal underneath a still smirking, leering, chauvinistic pig. Go to Full Review

While neither director nor screenwriter seem to have anything more substantial to say about female pleasure beyond the fact that it's important, you do nevertheless find yourself cheering for Florence and Violette when they embrace their selfish side. Go to Full Review

It is silly and playful, but there are times when it becomes uncomfortable. Go to Full Review

Leboeuf and Gonthier-Hyndman are well suited to their roles, with Violette's softness and Florence's humour bringing a playful, engaging balance of levity and emotion to each scene. Go to Full Review

CadeandKit R @CadeandKit Dec 11 Funny, French, and Deeply Human A slice-of-life comedy that’s somehow about postpartum recovery, aging, bisexuality, meds, marriage, divorce, exhibitionism, and cooperative garden planning. It’s messy, honest, and weirdly sweet. Two neighbors form a friendship that turns into a liberation spiral. From baby monitors to rat control to hired flings... it’s chaos! Delivered with humor, charm, and just enough absurdity to make you laugh out loud. Think: "Eat Pray Love" but in a Montreal apartment building with a crow screaming through the wall. And somehow it all works. See more Read all reviews
