I'm sorry for you romantics out there like me who always root for love even when it's unrealistic, but since this film is trying to capture real life there is no way in a million years that a rich bisexual woman is going to leave her decent, good looking husband, underage kids, and a very nice home and nice, wealthy, safe life in general for a poor transman who lives with a roommate. So that pulled me out of the film. Also frustrating how the day with the family ended so suddenly for no good reason really. His parents were trying so hard to accept him and have him be a part of the family, but instead he acted like a spoiled brat and just left without saying thanks for trying or even a good bye. Doing improve might have been fun for the actors but it wasn't fun for the audience. See more Kyle M @RT77296778 02/13/2025 Compelling showcase for Elliot Page that feels triumphant over his natural, personally experienced edge to solidify the improvised commentary, which the atmosphere feels ideally awkward and yielded till the erupted drama implies unseen possibility left unsatisfyingly unresolved. That may be intended, if so then the rest of the culminated energy is considerably uneven, but that could be conflicting when viewing this inexperienced or uninvolved enough to properly grasp. Simply put, Page’s may have independently found emotional bliss in his passion project, it’s the story that’s incomplete amidst misled direction. In the end, I found it poignant and several performances, especially Page, Baack, and Crewson, were deep and layered. This isn’t a perfect film. The beginning was the most challenging for me, not so much because of slow pacing, but because the film felt unsure of itself and a bit awkward. Like it was a documentary.
