Jo & Co 09/14/2022 When I saw this movie when it first appeared in 1974 I was disappointed. It was different and I thought it was the worse one of the franchise. Apart from Christopher Lee, who was the only redeeming thing in it, there was nothing at all in its favour. How things change. "The Man With The Golden Gun" was re-released at the cinema here in the Cayman Islands as part of their Tuesday night "Classics" yesterday (Tue 13 Sep). A young 20 year old beautiful Jamaican lady (Phyllisia) staying with Jo and myself had never seen it and talked me into watching it again. There was nothing in the movie that changed, apart form being on the "BIG" screen, but I, along with Jo and Phyllysia LOVED It!! It was exciting, it was funny, even with Clifton James as the tobacco chewing/spitting over the top US Sheriff from the previous Bon movie, was engaging. I had HATED him being in it before. And all the acting was top notch. Yes, Chris Lee did again steal the movie for me and that was the same call from both Jo and Phyllisia. We were not alone. A lady sitting in front of us said "it was fabulous". We all agreed. The question that puzzles me is why didn't I like it the first showing all those years ago? If it shows again in your area I urge you to see it again. There was nothing Jo and I disliked. It was 100% sheer enjoyment. See more william s 09/14/2022 Great classic Bond film! It's a shame because the prospect of Christopher Lee playing a Bond villain still seems like something that should work really well but it doesn't. Lee's performance is fine but the movie never does the work to establish him as a serious threat to Bond or anyone else. Genuinely hilarious that Scaramanga's evil plan is solar energy. See more John Y. @JYJr16 Feb 8 Roger Moore’s second Bond film. He’s about the same as in his first go. Not bad, but not better than Connery or even Lazenby. But a top notch villain, played by Christopher Lee, and a better setting (Thailand, instead of New Orleans) makes this one a bit better. Though they added the Louisiana sheriff from the last movie without even trying to make it plausible. And if you had to guess which 1974 auto company would be the one to provide the cars for the big chase scene, not many would have guessed American Motors Corp. For real.
