Blue macaws Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), Jewel (Anne Hathaway) and their three children are comfortably settled in the city -- perhaps too comfortably. Jewel fears that the children are becoming more like humans than birds. After learning that she and Blu may not be the last blue macaws after all, Jewel decides that their little family should visit the Amazon jungle. It's there that Blu meets his formidable father-in-law (Andy Garcia) and goes beak-to-beak with arch-nemesis Nigel (Jemaine Clement).

Like most sequels, Rio 2 takes its predecessor's basic template and tries to make it bigger -- which means it's even busier, more colorful, and ultimately more exhausting for viewers outside the youthful target demographic.

Not as good as rio 1 but its good, the story is decent but the way characters act now isnt how they used to act in the first one like how jewel treats blu poorly in this movie.

Def not as good as the first one, but still super cute. I couldn’t imagine coming across an “extinct” species and they’re out there thriving in the most healthy, beautiful environment without human bothering them.

It’s an okay sequel. It tries to follow the sequel template by expanding the scope and size, but I feel like that leads to diminishing returns. Because so focused on its broader scope and more colorful characters, it feels like it gets awfully bogged down in trying to be bigger. But it’s workable. It’s still a solid time, the characters are themselves, and it’s still kinda funny. But yeah, like the first, nothing special.

Synopsis
