In this relationship dramedy about a couple struggling with the imbalance of power in their marriage, a husband (a scientist) makes his wife (a novelist with writer's block) feel figuratively small and unheard. Then, he accidentally shrinks her to six inches tall so now she's literally small and unheard as the metaphor becomes real. This is an exploration of the fragility of love and ambition, cloaked in the absurdity of its premise. But at its core, it's a love story and a remarriage story. As they struggle to navigate the sobering truth of her new, miniature reality, they are forced to confront whether their marriage -- and their love -- can survive. Perhaps, miniaturization is the epic reset these two needed to tackle the biggest crisis of their lives and fall in love all over again.

The surface weirdness of The Miniature Wife frees it up to defy genre conventions. Go to Full Review

The Miniature Wife offers too little payoff to hold on to one’s attention for long. Too sour to choke down when it’s not too treacly to swallow, this ten-episode slog probably could have done with some downsizing itself. Go to Full Review

It’s as if showrunners Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner almost forget about this fertile conceit as soon as possible, and the possibilities it offers for oblique comic commentary on modern misogyny. Go to Full Review

It’s the most delightful TV surprise of 2026, a show that is wonderfully acidic yet goes down oh-so-smooth. Go to Full Review

We’re definitely on board with watching how The Miniature Wife is going to pull things off, both technically and storywise, but mainly because we’re confident that Banks can handle the challenge of playing someone shrunk down to six inches. Go to Full Review

Steven S. @G0dJester 3h Honey I Shrunk the Kids crossed with The War of the Roses. This was a lot of fun with some wonderful performances. Anytime Lulu Littlejohn (Sofia Rosinsky) in particular is on screen I knew I was in for a good laugh. Would Recommend See more Roy G @Royston 5h Simply rubbish. Couldn't suffer more than two episodes. See more Aaron K @RT46268319 10h Really took me a minute to acclimate to the writing and acting style, which are elevated and tough to get used to. I'm not sure I ever did, honestly. It vacillates between cartoonish over-the-top comedy and pretty dark violence, which I don't mind if the tone is cohesive. None of the characters are terribly likable, and it's hard to know who to root for. I really like the two lead actors, so it's worth watching for them alone. The secondary characters are a very mixed bag, and several are given romantic storylines that don't connect to the main plot in a worthwhile way. See more Kevin K. @KKinLA 11h A comedy, dark and slapstick at times. If into Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, War of the Roses, Three Company, Malcolm in the Middle, might like this. Very good actors. I like the "who is boss" dynamics between Lindy and Les. I was impressed with Banks as Lindy's physical humor and I had only watched Macfadyen in much more serious roles, so it was fun to see Macfadyen doing comedic Les. Seemed like the tension in their marriage was due to both thinking they were sacrificing not having more in their careers due to marriage and not getting more support from each other. They were both very, very frustrated and, surprisingly, because they were as dominant and opinionated as Lindy and Les are both also very sensitive characters. Although I liked that it was not sappy-based emotions between them. The backstory in flashbacks was interesting. The whole cast is excellent. I have not seen too many shows with such a strong ensemble cast. I found the writing creative and interesting. See more frank O @frank44552 1d If it was upvoted on Rotten Tomatoes by the so-called professional reviewers, then I know not to even bother watching this woke CRAP. When a new TV show comes out and if it has been upvoted on this platform by the again-so-called professionals, I know it's WOKE garbage. See more Jenni M @JenniRedding 1d Very long. However the mother daughter relationship (all the mother daughters) rescues it! Sofia Rosinsky is awesome! See more Read all reviews
