Based on Nesbø’s fifth Hole novel, “The Devil’s Star,” this labyrinthic mystery swarms with red herrings and feeds on false starts and that more than holds your interest. Go to Full Review

Beware that the nine-episode offering can be slightly graphic at times and drags during some scenes, but overall the chemistry between the leads makes it a compelling enough binge during a gloomy weekend. Go to Full Review

So much plot, so much incident, plus heatwaves, tropical thunder and sweat. As rides go, it’s certainly rollicking. Go to Full Review

There's plenty of fun stuff here for fans of Norwegian mystery series, but Nesbø needs to work a lot harder to stand out against the myriad other detective shows. Go to Full Review

Paul K @RT03170353 3d Sensationally good. Best series for a long time. Very realistic and brutal mixed in with interesting character development. Harry perfectly cast,Tom too: both played brilliantly. An intelligent, ENTERTAINING, and clever series. Very like the books, all of which I have read. Nesbo has really got what it takes. See more Allan H @RT89558755 5d The author adapting his own novel greatly helps. Whatever he wants in, he gets. As a result, you can understand each character better, sometimes too much better. See more Ian H @Ostrogoth 5d The atmospheric settings are good, the acting good but the direction loose. If you spend a lot time trying to work out what is going on rather than enjoying what you see, something is wrong. Too many cul-de-sacs and the whole idea that Tom was one of the goodies was unsustainable. When the final dénouement approached, how come Tom and Harry were the only police people in the whole of Norway? It could have been so much better. See more Mone C @Mone77 5d I found the series too drawn out. 9 episodes were too excessive. 6 or 7 episodes would have been much better. The mystery and its development towards resolution are quite interesting, but it only really starts to grab the viewer's attention from episode 5 onwards. I also really liked the cast. Joel Kinnaman is phenomenal as the villain. See more Hans Olav H @hohygen 6d Harry Hole, which is based on Jo Nesbøs famous books, is a Nordic noir version of Oslo, with emphasis on the noir. The image og Oslo is a desperate dark town, not really matching the daily reality of Oslo. The series has, in its gory, violent style, many good qualities. There are multiple interconnected storylines and mysteries to be solved. The acting is sometimes brilliant. The one part missing is that there are quite a few loose ends that are just left as is when you get to the end, and some highly improbable actions of the characters. Overall: Well vorth watching See more Mo P. @Mopal Apr 5 What a frustrating disappointment. Big Joel Kinnaman fan here but the writing of this show was such a hot mess that even he couldn’t overcome it. The story and scenes were all over the place. Too bad. See more Read all reviews
